100 Thieves Invitational: Valorant tournament Riot Games 100T

Esports organization 100 Thieves (100T) has unveiled its first Valorant tournament taking place on April 14: 100 Thieves Invitational: Valorant. Riot Games’ 5v5 shooter is, by far, the most anticipated PC game of 2020. The familiar bomb-defusal game structure, coupled with Overwatch-inspired abilities, has attracted fans from all genres. Riot’s marketing team has done a fantastic job of showcasing what the game has to offer. They’ve garnered millions of views on Twitch after partnering with well-known content creators and enabling Twitch drops for beta access. But now they’re getting free publicity via the unaffiliated 100 Thieves Invitational: Valorant.

This follows after Internet personality Matthew “Mizkif” Rinaudo partnered with NRG to host “The NRG and Friends Valorant Tournament.” The game’s first closed beta tournament featured content creators, NRG players, and Valorant talent.

100 Thieves Invitational: Valorant

The 100 Thieves Invitational: Valorant will continue the hype train when it begins at 10 a.m. PT on April 14 . The organization boasts eight top-tier teams will be participating. Moreover, “some of the biggest content creators in the world” will spearhead each team. Fans replied with who they hope will captain each team or play in the tournament. While unconfirmed, it’s assumed the tournament’s broadcast will stream on Twitch. As of yet, 100 Thieves hasn’t revealed any content creators or professionals that have signed on to participate. Information regarding prize pool or rewards is unknown as well.

100 Thieves is one of the more proactive teams in Valorant. Not only are they sponsoring the upcoming tournament, but they are one of the first teams to field professional Valorant players.

Valorant‘s potential

This is an extremely exciting time for esports and Riot Games. The potential for the game to blossom into one of the world’s leading esports is obvious. The 100 Thieves Invitational: Valorant is an opportunity for fans and investors to see the game’s marketability as an esport. Needless to say, we’ll probably see more events from 100 Thieves and other organizations in the near future.
