The first official details for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Warzone Season 5 are here, as Activision has released the roadmap. Prior to every season, the developers reveal a roadmap of what’s to come at the start and during each season. While some fans would like all of the content at once, Activision clearly feels that spacing out various content keeps the season fresh. It also gives players something to look forward to after the initial thrill has worn off. Let’s check out the Season 5 roadmap and see what’s coming to both Modern Warfare and Warzone.

As always, the content for Season 5 is split into two halves. The initial launch does have the bulk of the content, which is nice to see from a player’s perspective. All in all, it seems all four maps will arrive in Modern Warfare multiplayer. This is accompanied by some new Battle Pass items.

Weapons

  • AN-94 assault rifle (Tier 31 on Battle Pass)
  • ISO submachine gun (APC9) (Tier 15 on Battle Pass)
  • Dual Kodachis (second-half update)
  • Classified weapon (second-half update)

Operators

  • Lerch (Start of Battle Pass)
  • Velikan (second-half update)

Maps

  • Petrov Oil Rig (6v6)
  • Suldal Harbor (6v6)
  • Livestock (Gunfight)
  • Verdansk Intl. Airport (Ground War)

In regards to Warzone specifically, Infinity Ward has stepped up its game—offering new modes, challenges, and a mid-season event. Along with that, the Stadium is opening its doors, the new Train is arriving, and the Ascenders will be placed in front of high-rise structures.

Activision and Infinity Ward appear to be going all out for Season 5. This is most likely due to the rumor that Season 5 is the last iteration for Modern Warfare before the 2020 title releases. Warzone, on the other hand, will live on in whatever Treyarch comes up with for 2020.

Players can download the Season 5 update sometime early Wednesday morning on August 5.
