After the news broke of Brandon “Dashy” Otell’s signing with the Chicago Huntsmen, more speculation about the roster occurred. Several of the Huntsmen personnel teased the return of a familiar face to the Call of Duty League (CDL). While, of course, nothing is official, it appears Damon “Karma” Barlow could be back in CDL in 2021. Chicago members Seth “Scump” Abner and Matt “FormaL” Piper seem to want him on the Huntsmen. Along with this, Karma has teased several times that he’s “thinking he’s back.” Do these hints have any meaning or are they just smoke and mirrors?
Karma going to the Chicago Huntsmen in 2021?
We’ve speculated previously that Karma could return to the CDL in 2021. He did retire from Call of Duty in 2020 after an abysmal season with the Seattle Surge. However, since then, he’s made it known a return could be in the cards.
Although, this return might not be in the same fashion as fans are accustomed to. Karma has hinted that he wants to come back in some sort of coaching role. This has been a natural next step for retired Call of Duty professionals, as we’ve seen a plethora take up coaching jobs in the CDL.
While this remains to be seen, it’s clear the Chicago Huntsmen want him coaching their squad in 2021. Both Scump and FormaL have requested he return.

The eyes emoji from Karma. The “come to me” GIF from Scump. It’s all looking a little too obvious as of right now. It’s plausible that Karma would choose the Huntsmen if he were to come back in some sort of coaching role, though. He’s played with Scump, FormaL, and Dashy before and has a great relationship with CEO Hector “H3CZ” Rodriguez. H3CZ even recently said that he contacted Karma about possibilities in 2021.
The thought of Karma signing to Chicago is a dream for Huntsmen fans. However, there’s been no rumor or leak regarding this possibility, so we’ll have to wait and see.
