Atlanta Call of Duty forms partnership with FaZe for CDL, reveals roster

Atlanta FaZe Call of Duty league

One of the final Call of Duty League teams has been announced, as Atlanta and FaZe Clan form a powerful partnership. For the 2020 CDL and beyond, the Atlanta franchise will be known as the Atlanta FaZe. The Atlanta location is owned by Atlanta Esports and Ventures (AEV) and, as of today, FaZe Clan. The two companies will be co-owners of the new franchise and share operating responsibilities.

However, not only was the partnership announced, but the ATL roster was also revealed. Consisting of some of the top young talents, ATL FaZe is arguably the most talented roster currently in the Call of Duty League.

Atlanta FaZe and its roster

While this announcement makes it official, this merger has been rumored for some time. With rapper Offset having a controlling interest in FaZe and originally from Atlanta, the partnership makes sense. Now, AEV and FaZe make for quite the power duo atop the esports community. Here’s what FaZe Clan CEO Lee Trink said about the announcement:

FaZe Clan has its roots in Call of Duty and participating in this inaugural league enables us to remain true to that rich heritage. We are excited to partner with AEV and begin this new chapter for FaZe, in making Atlanta a new home.

FaZe Clan originally started as a Call of Duty trickshotting group but quickly grew into much more. They have participated in Call of Duty esports since 2011 and are now set to continue in the 2020 Call of Duty League. That said, Atlanta has not announced where they will be playing their home matches as of yet.

In regards to the roster of Atlanta FaZe, there is perhaps no other lineup more talented. Though some might say it’s missing that of an experienced leader, the sheer firepower of this roster more than makes up for it. Here’s the starting five for ATL FaZe:

  • Chris “Simp” Lehr
  • Mike “majormaniak” Szymaniak
  • Preston “Priestahh” Greiner
  • McArthur “Cellium” Jovel
  • Tyler “aBeZy” Pharris

All of these are considered proficient in Search and Destroy, so teams will have a difficult time outslaying this roster. Atlanta has done a terrific job of securing young talent to make sure they stay competitive in the CDL for years to come. Hopefully, for Atlanta fans, this talent translates to success.
