Black Ops 4’s 1.22 update releases weapons that are only in supply drops

Black Ops 4 update

It’s the time of the month where Black Ops 4 gets another update. Version 1.22 is available to download on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One and requires 11.4 GB of storage space. This is the second part of the Operation Apocalypse Z, which began in early July for PS4 users. While this update does bring in some new content with 60 Contraband tiers, some of this content isn’t immediately accessible.

Here are the key points from the Black Ops 4 1.22 patch notes.

Infected: Final Stand and Pandemic Mode now live

At long last, Infected is now in Black Ops 4. A staple of Call of Duty since Modern Warfare 3, Infected pits the living versus the undead in a fight to stay alive. In Infected: Last Stand, there are two teams, Survivors and Zombies. The Zombies attempt to kill the Survivors before they run out of lives. Survivors start with one life each but can be revived.

The first team to win four rounds wins the game. If the Survivors eliminate all of the zombies or run out the clock, they are victorious. If the Zombies eliminate every Survivor, they come away with the round win.

Moving over to Blackout, Pandemic Mode is also available to play now. These matches start with 80 players in a standard Blackout match. However, if your team is eliminated, you come back as a zombie and try to get revenge on the remaining squads.

The new Pandemic Mode in Blackout

Zombies in Pandemic Mode are essentially super soldiers. They have super speed, take no damage from falling, can see footsteps on the map, and are equipped with two Hell’s Retriever axes. The end of the match pits the last living team against dozens of undead, ax-wielding zombies.

M16 and Havelina Sniper added to Black Ops 4 multiplayer

During the Black Ops 4 lifecycle, whenever a new weapon goes live in-game, the community’s reaction isn’t usually one of excitement. More often than not, the reaction is negative. This is due to the fact that almost every DLC weapon is locked behind the pay-wall that is supply drops.

Both the new M16 Assault Rifle and Havelina Sniper are only available in reserve cases. They cannot be obtained in the Contraband stream or through any other means. This comes as no surprise, but it is disappointing all the same.

There are virtually no players who enjoy this practice. Treyarch and Activision simply do not seem to care about what their community wants. While it’s sad, it’s what we’ve come to expect from Call of Duty.

In terms of the new Contraband stream, there are a total of 60 tiers. There is an Ultra Weapon bribe within these tiers, so hopefully, everyone lucks out and receives one of the new weapons. If not, may the odds be in your favor.
