Boston Uprising open esports facility

Overwatch League franchise Boston Uprising has partnered with New York City and New Jersey-based social gaming company Helix Esports for an esports complex. With the support of parent company Kraft Sports and Entertainment, the 18,000-square foot esports facility will be established at the Patriots Place shopping and entertainment center in Foxborough, Massachusetts.

“With the Uprising’s move to Boston, we wanted to provide the team with a first-class practice facility and give our fans unprecedented access to their home team,” said Jen Ferron, Chief Marketing Officer for Kraft Sports & Entertainment. “This new partnership with Helix eSports will accomplish both of these goals by providing our fans with access to our team and players through onsite events and appearances, while allowing the Uprising to practice from a state-of-the-art facility in the heart of Patriot Place.”

With the 2020 Overwatch League season, there will be a home-and-away game system. Teams will be moving back to their home cities, and the Boston Uprising facility will open in January of 2020, coinciding with the start of the Overwatch League. The Uprising will also host two homestand events at Boston venues that have yet to be announced.

“By providing a center with uniform, high-end gaming equipment, we can level the playing field from a gear and infrastructure perspective, providing greater access to esports for everyone,” he further added.

Boston Uprising esports complex

The esports complex will serve as a practice facility for the Boston Uprising. In addition, it will offer a competitive gaming center open for public usage with 100 gaming computers, 30 game consoles, and virtual reality stations as well.

The complex will also offer esports leagues to schools and for recreational use, along with workshops for middle and high schoolers. Educational programs and curricula will be available as well to those interested in becoming a virtual reality architect or software developer or in earning an esports certification.
