Overwatch League analysts Brennon “Bren” Hook and Josh “Sideshow” Wilkinson have announced they will be moving to the casting desk during the 2020 season. This news comes after previous talent, including Christopher “MonteCristo” Mykles, have announced career changes.

Bren and Sideshow to casting

“I won’t be going far though. I’m VERY happy to announce that I am going to be casting instead in 2020 with the man, the myth the LEGEND Sideshow. We will be bringing you the commentary LIVE, during the matches. LET’S GET IT,” said Hook in a Twitter post.

The British caster is well known for his past work on the Overwatch League analyst desk, a career he pursued after pausing his University education. The 23-year-old got his start casting competitive titles like Team Fortress 2, Dota 2, and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. While the two analyzed gameplay throughout the matches in their most recent role, this move will place them in a solely casting role.

This will mean a return to the work Hook and Wilkinson perfomed while participating in the Team Fortress 2 scene. It’s presently unclear whether MonteCristo’s casting partner, Erik “DoA” Lonnquist, will continue casting. In addition, former Los Angeles Valiant main support player Scott “Custa” Kennedy revealed he had been hired as a desk analyst for the 2020 season.

Former Houston Outlaws DPS Jake “JAKE” Lyon will join the talent team with an undisclosed partner. Overwatch League also recently saw the departure of host Chris Puckett, who now plans to become a freelance host.

The 2020 Overwatch League season starts up on February 8th at The Hammerstein Ballroom in Manhattan, New York and the Esports Stadium Arlington. Teams like the Paris Eternal, Toronto Defiant, New York Excelsior, London Spitfire, Vancouver Titans, Los Angeles Gladiators, Dallas Fuel, and Los Angeles Valiant will clash for the season’s first matches.
