Call of Duty 2020 rumored to be set in Cold War as a Black Ops revamp

Call of Duty 2020 rumored to be set in Cold War as a Black Ops revamp

We don’t even have Modern Warfare in our hands yet and leaks are already starting for Call of Duty 2020. According to a well-known leaker, the title releasing in 2020 will be set in the Cold War and could be a prequel or continuation of the original Black Ops.

In a report from Kotaku earlier in the year, supposedly Activision has ditched their three-developer cycle. Instead, Treyarch, developers of Black Ops 4, had to accelerate their timeline for their next title. Originally supposed to release in 2021, it will now be the next game after Modern Warfare.

This could have a significant impact on development quality. However, a reboot of Black Ops would make fans extremely excited.

Call of Duty 2020 rumored to be set in Cold War as a Black Ops revamp

The original Black Ops is to this day one of the most popular Call of Duty titles.

This information about Call of Duty 2020 could end up being false and must be treated strictly as a rumor. Although, this leaker, LongSensation, has a solid track record when it comes to Call of Duty leaks.

The leaker says Treyarch has been fiddling with two names for 2020’s title. Both of these names involve Black Ops, and either could signal a reboot of the series. While there are four Black Ops games, three are set in the future and don’t necessarily correspond with the original.

In addition to this, LongSensation claims that the current build of the game features more grit and gore than Modern Warfare:

Of course, no sources are provided. In order to have this intel, however, he would need to have a source close to the Treyarch/Activision development team. It’s highly unlikely that any play-testers have been given a chance to play the game yet.

While this is an exciting leak, there’s no way to verify its legitimacy. We’ll have to wait for either more leaks or Treyarch to start dropping teasers.
