call of duty league cdl online homesteads Dallas home series weekend

Today the Call of Duty League (CDL) announced that it would return to online matches with a new home series after weeks of hiatus. All homestead tournaments had been canceled after the Los Angeles homestead back at the beginning of March. It was unclear when exactly the matches would resume.

Dallas Empire was the next in line to host their homestead tournament in Texas. As such, they will be the ones to host the first online tournament this weekend, April 10 – 12. The teams that were originally invited to the Dallas homestead will now be competing in online matches from the safety of their own home. Matches begin this Saturday at 4 p.m. Eastern/ 1 p.m. Pacific on the Call of Duty League YouTube channel.

CDL finally brings back matches

The Call of Duty League was among the first to close down its in-person matches. However, this was back when the virus was in its earliest form. In light of the outbreak, other esports titles such as Overwatch, League of Legends, and CSGO followed suit with closing in-person matches. Within weeks the announcement of the closure was followed up with a solution on how the events would continue. Incidentally, the CDL was one of the last to come up with a solution when the games had been played online in previous years.

It’s unclear how the league will operate without referees being on the scene or how they will manage internet connection issues. The league did assure that the players and organizations would be operating in accordance with government health mandates with the home series.

You can check out the official statement from the CDL. The full home series schedule can also be found on their website and above.
