Esports organization Cloud9 has made changes to its Dota 2 roster that entail the return of some familiar faces. Jacky “EternaLEnVy” Mao and Marcus “Ace” Hoelgaard are back on C9, and they have brought Jingjun “Sneyking” Wu along with them.
Unfortunately, the comeback of these former players means Jia Hao “vtFαded” Cheng and Rolen “Skem” Ong are now benched. Additionally, Francis “FLee” Lee has been released from Cloud9 entirely.

Coming home to Cloud9
While Sneyking is a new addition to Cloud9, EternaLEnVy and Ace are no strangers to the squad. EternaLEnVy, who is coming from Fighting PandaS alongside Sneyking, competed with C9 from 2014 to 2015, and then again later in 2017. Meanwhile, Ace also competed for the organization in 2017.
During EternaLEnVy’s 2014 run with Cloud9, he helped the team place 5th-6th at The International and 2nd at The Summit 2. As for Ace, his time with C9 in 2017 saw the team place 2nd at the World Electronic Sports Games.
“We’re really glad to be welcoming EternaLEnVy and Ace back to C9, and we have no doubt Sneyking will make a tremendous impact as well. We’re all looking forward to seeing this team compete at the highest levels,” Cloud9 Senior General Manager Gaylen Malone said in a statement.
Cloud9 just recently re-entered the Dota 2 scene in late January after a hiatus of over two years. The organization intended to initially compete in the Southeast Asia region and then represent North America at later events. However, the team was eliminated from the SEA open qualifiers for the ESL One Los Angeles Major in early February, cutting those plans short.
The team’s new additions have also led to some position changes on the roster. EternaLEnVy, Ace, and Sneyking will now fill positions 1-3 respectively. Meanwhile, Rasmus “MISERY” Filipsen is now taking on position 4; Johan “pieliedie” Åström will remain in position 5.
