Hardware giant Corsair has announced they have acquired SCUF Gaming. The leading producer of enhanced controllers, SCUF will merge with Corsair as a separate division within the company. So, SCUF will still maintain control over their domain, that being controllers. However, this merger gives both companies the opportunity to create gaming accessories in collaboration with one another.
Corsair is known in the community for their keyboards, mice, PC components, and RGB lighting. They have mainly catered to PC gamers in the past with the products they offer. The acquisition of SCUF allows them to branch out to the console world as well.
SCUF Gaming and Corsair merge
Although this is officially looked at as an acquisition for Corsair, in reality, it’s more of a merger. SCUF will presumably have the last word when it comes to decisions on the controllers they produce, as that is their realm of expertise.
We are beyond excited to welcome @ScufGaming to the CORSAIR family!

What this merger really does is open up a whole new world of products to both companies. Along with Elgato Gaming, which is partnered with each of them, the gaming accessory market is certainly going to heat up within the next few months.
SCUF, though known for their controllers, could possibly expand their product line with Corsair’s help. The possibilities are endless with their wide array of accessories. Here’s what SCUF Gaming founder Duncan Ironmonger said in his Founder’s letter:
With Corsair, we found a partner who has the same passion as us when it comes to community, gaming, and innovation. SCUF will continue to operate under the SCUF brand as a separate division within Corsair. They have the operational scale and network to help us grow and bring our innovation to even more gamers.
The acquistion is set to complete at the end of December. Once it is, Corsair will be partnered with three huge gaming companies in SCUF Gaming, Origin PC, and Elgato Gaming. Other gaming accessory companies such as Razer should be wary of Corsair and its impressive portfolio.
