Modern Warfare dead silence bug

A new hotfix went live in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare on Tuesday that fixed some stability bugs and ironed out the weapon balancing. However, in an unintentional swing of events, the patch created a fairly significant bug involving Dead Silence in private matches. The community is already up in arms over a certain Search and Destroy bug that allows for free spectating upon death. Now, this new issue is making the CDL mode in private matches unplayable.

Dead Silence is broken in CDL private matches

In the settings of a private match, you can find various preset modes to use. If you select one of these modes, the settings will automatically change for your private match. One of the selectable modes is the CDL official rule set, which is what all of the professional players use for scrimmages. The CDL mode is quite popular among competitive players, as many use it for their matches. You can select up to three game modes, Hardpoint, Search and Destroy, and Domination. These are three game modes currently in the CDL rotation.

Up until yesterday, these modes were playable with the exception of the aforementioned SnD bug. However, when the hotfix for Modern Warfare went live yesterday, a new bug strolled into town. You can see a clip of the issue below.

If you missed what happened, check out the Dead Silence bar at the end of the clip. When the player activates it, the bar immediately runs out, giving you no time to use Dead Silence. This is a huge, game-breaking bug as nearly every competitive player uses Dead Silence as their Field Upgrade.

At this time, Infinity Ward has said nothing about the issue. Although, there is a “big” update coming later this week, version 1.09, so hopefully this bug is resolved in that patch. If the issue is still present after version 1.09, a simple hotfix should go out within the coming days to fix the bug.
