Apex Legends System Override event patch notes Respawn

The System Override Collection Event kicks off tomorrow in Apex Legends, and the community is quite excited. Not only will the event introduce new gameplay elements and modes, but Respawn is throwing a ton of changes in with the update. Earlier today, we got a chance to see those changes when the developers hosted their “Devstream”. Essentially, this is a live stream where the Respawn developers show off the next big update in Apex Legends. So, let’s go through tomorrow’s patch notes and see what’s changing with the new event update.

Tons of meta changes coming to Apex Legends

Yesterday, we reported on some leaks that could see the light of the day within tomorrow’s update. Well, it appears that these leaks were, in fact, true, and a flurry of other gameplay changes are coming along with them.

While we knew about Gibraltar’s nerf and recon legend alterations, we didn’t know about the rest of the patch notes. There’s a lot to unpack, so if you want to read the full list you can do so on EA’s website. However, we’ll be hitting the key points for you. Here are the meta changes coming to Apex Legends tomorrow:

Bloodhound

  • Increased the scan distance for Eye of the Allfather by 3x.
    • Increased time to activate: .4s -> .8s
    • Increased duration of scan: 2s -> 3s

Gibraltar

  • Gun Shield health reduced: 75 -> 50.

Crypto

  • Primary weapons will now automatically reload while in drone view.

Inventory Update

  • Base inventory slots increased 8 -> 10.
    • Common Backpack: expands inventory to 12 slots.
    • Rare Backpack: expands inventory to 14 slots.
    • Epic Backpack: expands inventory to 16 slots.
  • Grenade stacks reduced to 2 -> 1.
  • Light / Heavy / Energy ammo stacks reduced from 80 -> 60.
  • Syringe and Shield Cell stacks reduced from 6 -> 4.
  • Med Kit and Shield Battery stacks reduced from 3 -> 2.

Peacekeeper

  • Mag size reduced from 6 -> 5.
  • Increased reload time from 2.5s -> 2.65s.
  • Increased reload time with empty mag from 3.5s -> 3.6s.
  • Slightly increased the scale of the blast pattern from 1.6 -> 1.7.

 Sentinel

  • Base damage increased from 65 -> 70
  • Reduced time it takes to rechamber from 1.85s -> 1.75s.

Non-meta changes coming with the System Override event

In non-gameplay terms, Respawn is finally fixing the muzzle flash issue on most weapons. This has been a long-requested feature in Apex Legends, so it’s nice to see a resolution. Although, muzzle flash won’t be touched on shotguns and sniper rifles, which makes sense.

Also, the Heirloom Shards are finally arriving tomorrow. If you missed our original post on this, Heirloom Shards have the same drop rate in Apex Packs as Heirloom Sets. However, the Shards can be turned in for any current in-game Heirloom Set. So, wait until tomorrow to open any packs in Apex Legends.

Other than that, there’s a long list of quality of life fixes coming with the update. The System Override event update should go live around 1 P.M. EST tomorrow.
