Fnatic eliminate SK Gaming from LEC Playoffs

The LEC Spring Split is now in week 13, and SK Gaming is out of playoff contention. Fnatic took down SK in their first game of week 13 to end their Spring Split hopes. The London esports giants dominated the game with a 10,000 gold lead and a 90 creep score difference.

Fnatic’s bot laner, Martin “Rekkles” Larsson went deathless throughout the series. He also achieved nine kills, the fifth time he’s done so this Spring Split. Oskar “Selfmade” Boderek also had a stellar performance against his old team. His impressive performance earned him the Kia Motors Player of the Game.

What’s next for SK Gaming

Now that the team no longer has a chance at playoffs or MSI, SK Gaming has little left to play for in the Spring Split. However, they will need to evaluate their entire roster and team spirit for the remaining weeks of LEC. The team has only won twice in 13 games this Split. Those wins came against bottom-placed Vitality and Schalke.

There are a number of areas in which the SK roster could improve, especially in terms of kill death ratios. SK Gaming currently has the highest deaths in the LEC and a kill death ratio of 0.47. In most of their games, they are usually unable to contest for important objectives, especially in mid-game situations.

The team usually rushes into fights or gets caught out, which makes it hard to contest for drakes, soul points, and barons. In their game against Fnatic, they started out pretty well. 10 minutes into the game, they had a kill and a 1,000 gold lead, but things went downhill in bot lane. After Fnatic achieved two kills and took over the gold lead, they pretty much controlled the tempo of the game until the end.

SK Gaming’s next game sees them facing off against the struggling Schalke. There, they can pick up points to try and salvage what’s left of the  Spring Split and build from there. Meanwhile, Fnatic takes on G2 in their next series for a battle for the number one spot on the LEC standings.
