We recently had the pleasure to sit down and chat with Fortnite pro and content creator Dawson “Tylarzz” Sherwood. Tylarzz currently plays for Team J.Storm and creates instructional content for Higher Level Gaming.
We spoke to Tylarzz about his thoughts on Fortnite, whether he thought Apex Legends was ever a serious threat to the game, what he’s currently doing with HLG, and his plans for the near future. He aims to compete at the highest level of Fortnite and continue to expand his community presence by educating the playerbase and promoting competitive Battle Royale.
My name is Dawson. I’m a 20-year-old professional Fortnite player from Chicago, Illinois currently playing for Team J.Storm.
I originally downloaded Fortnite when the Battle Royale was first released because a couple of friends of mine suggested it. Originally, I wasn’t drawn to the game very much because of the cartoon style of graphics, but after a couple months of playing, I really started to get addicted to the game. The building aspect added so much to the game that wasn’t in other Battle Royales that really made it interesting.
No, I never believed that Apex was going to dethrone Fortnite. Yes, it originally began to take off and viewership in Fortnite declined, but it lacked the something special that Fortnite has, which is building. I believe that people were just beginning to get tired of playing Fortnite and Fortnite only, so the game started to become a little stale. But in the end, it still is the best game out right now.
Yes, I am very pleased to be working with Higher Level Gaming, I’m currently producing content that’s geared towards making the average player turn into a great one. HLG is run by an amazing team that truly believes in helping the average player become a pro, and they are doing a good job at it.
My plan for the near future is to keep creating content for HLG and focus on competing in Fortnite because it’s what I love to do!
Pizza. Music. Baseball. Wrestling. Netflix. If society thinks it’s a waste of time, I’m probably addicted to it. Also, I write about stuff sometimes.
