Tylarzz Apex vs Fortnite Higher Level Gaming

This week, Daily Esports is brought to you by Higher Level Gaming, the only training site that puts out highly focused, curated, professional-grade level esports training that’s accessible for players of all skill levels. The below interview was provided by our sponsor.

We recently had the pleasure to sit down and chat with Fortnite pro and content creator Dawson “Tylarzz” Sherwood. Tylarzz currently plays for Team J.Storm and creates instructional content for Higher Level Gaming.

We spoke to Tylarzz about his thoughts on Fortnite, whether he thought Apex Legends was ever a serious threat to the game, what he’s currently doing with HLG, and his plans for the near future. He aims to compete at the highest level of Fortnite and continue to expand his community presence by educating the playerbase and promoting competitive Battle Royale.

Can you tell our readers a little about yourself?

My name is Dawson. I’m a 20-year-old professional Fortnite player from Chicago, Illinois currently playing for Team J.Storm.

How did you get into Fortnite and why was this the game that drew you in?

I originally downloaded Fortnite when the Battle Royale was first released because a couple of friends of mine suggested it. Originally, I wasn’t drawn to the game very much because of the cartoon style of graphics, but after a couple months of playing, I really started to get addicted to the game. The building aspect added so much to the game that wasn’t in other Battle Royales that really made it interesting.

This year started off with a bang when Apex Legends stormed the scene and took over the Battle Royale genre for a while. A lot of people were saying this was the game that was finally going to dethrone Fortnite. As we all know, Fortnite is back on top and once again dominating the BR genre. Did you think at the time that Apex could actually take down Fortnite?

No, I never believed that Apex was going to dethrone Fortnite. Yes, it originally began to take off and viewership in Fortnite declined, but it lacked the something special that Fortnite has, which is building. I believe that people were just beginning to get tired of playing Fortnite and Fortnite only, so the game started to become a little stale. But in the end, it still is the best game out right now.

You’re now working with Higher Level Gaming to produce content that’s geared towards helping players get better. Can you tell us a little bit more about what you’re doing and why you believe in HLG?

Yes, I am very pleased to be working with Higher Level Gaming, I’m currently producing content that’s geared towards making the average player turn into a great one. HLG is run by an amazing team that truly believes in helping the average player become a pro, and they are doing a good job at it.

What are your plans for the near future? Is there any exciting new content on the horizon?

My plan for the near future is to keep creating content for HLG and focus on competing in Fortnite because it’s what I love to do!
