Fortnite B.R.U.T.E.

Oh, how Epic Games must love torturing their community. In a new blog post, the company offered an update on the B.R.U.T.E.’s place in Fortnite. Some thought this would be the day they finally decided to nerf or vault the vehicle that has wreaked havoc in every Fortnite match. However, what we got instead was almost the complete opposite of that.

While there are always outliers, most of the community seems to share the same opinion regarding the B.R.U.T.E. The Mech is too strong, unbalanced, and doesn’t belong anywhere near the standard playlists, let alone Arena. However, it’s Epic Games’ feeling that the B.R.U.T.E. has a rightful place in Fortnite. Here’s what the developer studio said about their controversial vehicle.

The B.R.U.T.E. not changing anytime soon

Though many think the B.R.U.T.E. should be in the vault, a nerf would be just as welcome. Maybe restrict the number of missiles the vehicle has, or lower its health? Even decreasing each missile’s speed would make fans happy.

The B.R.U.T.E. won’t see the vault until at least Season 11 of Fortnite

Of course, Epic Games doesn’t seem to want to listen to any of that. Instead, they want to keep the B.R.U.T.E. in both the standard and competitive playlists for the rest of Season X. In their blog post, they acknowledge the #RemoveTheMech movement but still insist it has a place in Fortnite. What place you may ask? Here’s what they said.

The mission of Fortnite is to bring players of all skill levels together to have a fun experience where anyone can win. Right now, we know there are players out there who have never had that opportunity.

So, in essence, Epic is keeping the B.R.U.T.E. in Fortnite to help lower level players have a better shot at a Victory Royale. In addition to this, they went on to explain that the B.R.U.T.E. brings another layer of entertainment to the viewing experience.

Some would say this is pandering to a small portion of the player base. While getting your first win in Fortnite is a great feeling, doing so in a B.R.U.T.E. isn’t as rewarding as traditionally winning. YouTuber Muselk sums it up perfectly.

Epic Games shows data regarding the mech

After their explanation, Epic Games shows two graphics to prove that the B.R.U.T.E. isn’t as overpowered as many believe. However, if you have recently hopped in a Fortnite match, this data will look extremely off to you.

These graphics do show that the B.R.U.T.E. is not dominating matches like many think. However, based on playtime and experience, most players feel that these numbers are not fully accurate.

As one can imagine, this entire blog entry did not go over well with the community. Here are some of the best responses to Fortnite‘s post on Twitter.

Time will tell if Epic Games will ever change its mind about the B.R.U.T.E. However, for now, expect to see the Mech in all playlists and future tournaments.
