Fortnite Crash Site Ancient Astronaut challenges v13.30 update

The biggest attraction of the v13.30 update in Fortnite was the supposed addition of cars to the map. However, as we saw earlier, Epic Games seemingly decided to delay the arrival of vehicles. This was obviously disappointing to the community as Chapter 2 – Season 3 has been a bit dry on new content. Although, there was something uncovered in the update that could provide fresh content for deprived fans. Thanks to the work of data-miners, we got to see a new Fortnite POI near Craggy Cliffs and the “Ancient Astronaut” that lies in the middle of the location.

Ancient Astronaut discovered on the Fortnite map

This discovery came out of left field, as there was no mention of something like this in the data-mined files. While this upcoming addition isn’t on the map as of yet, it will be in fairly soon and could tie in with the end-of-season event for Fortnite Season 3.

Data-miner @FortTory was on top of the find, posting several screenshots of the discovery on Twitter. It’s important to note that all of the following images can’t be seen in-game as of this writing. FortTory obtained the images by removing the water that was lying above the new content.

This new location, which seems to contain a crashed spaceship, is located near Craggy Cliffs. Supposedly, it will be uncovered in-game once the water starts to recede more.

What’s more interesting about the spaceship POI is what lies inside the ship. There appears to be an astronaut inside, who FortTory is calling the “Ancient Astronaut.” We’re not sure of the significance of either the ship or Ancient Astronaut as it relates to Fortnite. However, we do know that there will some challenges associated with the Astronaut, which are as follows:

  • Found Ancient Ship
  • Collect Missing Part
  • Install Missing Part
  • Begin Launch Sequence
  • Stop Ship Launch

As previously stated, it seems as though Epic Games is starting to plan for the Season 3 in-game event. After all, Fortnite has seen its fair share of rockets at the end of various seasons.
