Fortnite is going to be appearing the Game Awards according to an announcement by TGA face Geoff Keighley, but it comes with an interesting caveat. Keighley asked that players be ready to be in game once Fortnite Creative Director Donald Mustard takes the stage. Could we be getting new gear, or a fresh in-game event when Fortnite makes its announcement?
Keighley announced the Fortnite presence at The Game Awards 2018 on December 3, 2018 from his personal Twitter. The Game Awards 2018 will take place on Thursday December 6, 2018, with stream on Twitch, YouTube, and more starting at 5:30PM PST/8:30PM EST. Epic’s Fortnite Creative Director Donald Mustard will be taking the stage during the show to make a world premiere announcement, likely regarding Season 7 of the popular Battle Royale title.

It’s most interesting that Geoff Keighley makes special note to “keep your game close” during the Fortnite announcement on Thursday. It seems to point strongly to the possibility that we could be getting some celebratory in-game content or events in immediate wake of the Game Awards announcement. It wouldn’t be the first time that Fortnite has dropped some impressive content on the fly, such as when they did their crossover with Marvel to include Thanos in the game during the release of Avengers: Infinity War.
What does it mean we’ll be getting? What do you want to see out of Season 7 for Fortnite? Be sure to pay attention to the official Fortnite Twitter where Epic is counting down to a fresh new season of content.
