Respawn Entertainment confirmed a new feature coming Season 6 of Apex Legends earlier in the week. After the official cinematic trailer went live, the developers started answering some questions from fans regarding the trailer. Everyone wanted to know about the new legend, Rampart, and her unique abilities, one of which allows her to craft various items. However, crafting won’t just be unique to Rampart, according to a developer. It seems that Apex Legends Season 6 will allow all players to craft items and perhaps even structures. Here’s all we know about the new feature.

Crafting in Apex Legends

When Respawn confirmed the new feature, many fans were confused about its actual application. After all, Apex Legends is a fast-paced shooter where you barely have enough time to heal let alone craft something. Though, this seems to be something that’s definitely arriving in Season 6.

As the caption reads, Season 6 will apparently allow you to upgrade your gear. This means if you have common armor and want to upgrade to rare, you can do so. There’s no official word on what the crafting extends to, however. Armor could be included but weapon attachments and other items might not be.

If you’ve played Fortnite recently, this system sounds similar to the Workbenches that reside on the island. When Respawn says “collect materials,” this likely means you need to find two or more of the same item in order to upgrade it. So if you have common armor and want rare armor, you’ll need to find two different common armors.

From the sounds of it, the crafting will only apply to physical items on the Apex Legends map. This is a tad different from what Rampart can do, which is build a piece of cover using materials found in various locations. This is great news for players who don’t want Fortnite-style building in Apex Legends.
