H20 will open Rabo Esports Stadium Amsterdam this year | Gamescom 2019

At Gamescom 2019 today, esports platform H20 announced that they have partnered up with Rabobank to open Rabo Esports Stadium Amsterdam later this year. A sports hall and formally a school, the new esports stadium of 10,000 m2 is set to become a hub for gaming, esports, and creative technology.

“With H20, we realize a dream that we have been working on for years,” Dirk Tuip, the founder of H20, said. He added that since youth and young adults feel a strong connection to the growing esports market, the new stadium can bring them together through education and training. These individuals can include gamers, esports enthusiasts, as well as influencers.

“All kinds of esports competitions, tournaments and gaming events will be organized at the Rabo Esports Stadium Amsterdam,” Tuip revealed. “There are about 75 days already booked for next year.”

Broadcasting, shoutcasting, playing areas, as well as a stage equipped with desk setups for players will be part of the Rabo Esports Stadium Amsterdam as well. Tuip added that, in addition to all of this, there will be a gaming club present with gear, interactive sports rooms, as well as a VR racing.

Eric Zwart, the chairman of the Board of Rabobank Waterland, sees potential when it comes to the future of the stadium and esports itself. “The world to the future is open to young people at the Rabo Esports Stadium Amsterdam. The great thing is that we can connect the youth here in real life. And in addition to gaming, H20 focuses strongly on education. Together we can teach the youth to play responsibly,” he said.

Zwart added that for the Amsterdam Waterland region in particular, the esports scene can be a catalyst in terms of economic growth.
