Hearthstone 2020 World Championship SilverName heads to the semi-finals

Fan “Syf” Yilun and Vladislav “SilverName” Sinotov battled it out in the Hearthstone 2020 World Championship on December 13. They first faced off in the Group B Decider Match, which occurred right after the match between Wu “XiaoT” Jiwei and Kenta “glory” Sato. Silvername dominated the match, securing his spot in the Hearthstone 2020 World Championship semifinals.

In the first game between Syf and SilverName, it was a matchup between Highlander Hunter and Evolve Shaman respectively. By SilverName’s turn five, he was able to play Derailed Coaster, summoning a 1/1 Rider minion for each minion in his hand. This allowed him to then play Sea Giant for no mana. After trading the board while still having his 8/8 on it, the game was over for Syf’s deck.

The next game consisted of a mirror match of Highlander Hunter with a few differences in Secret cards. By SilverName’s fifth turn, he needed to win the board. He played Zephrys the Great and had a choice between Shadow Word: Pain and Fan of Knives to control the board. He opted for the former Hearthstone card. However, it was not enough as Syf’s next turn consisted of Kill Command and going face. Syf’s play of Zephrys the Great got him Fireball, which won him the game.

Syf used his Evolve Shaman deck in round three, while SilverName used his Hunter deck again. SilverName had a strong first couple of turns, and in order to take back the board, Syf had to use Lightning Bloom. The card gained him two more mana. Coupled with The Coin, he summoned Inara Stormcrash in a defensive play. By SilverName’s turn 10, Syf had the board and lethal.

The stakes were high for SilverName, as his Hearthstone opponent was only one win away from getting a place in the semifinals. With a Bomb Warrior mirror match, SilverName was able to win the explosive battle thanks to his opponent drawing a Bomb card.

In the next game, SilverName’s Hunter deck won against Syf’s Bomb Warrior. Near the end of the game, Syf had to deal with a devastating board coupled with trying to get enough armor. However, it was not enough as SilverName had minions to go face alongside Pyroblast at hand via an earlier play.

With this win, the Hearthstone 2020 World Championship’s top four players consist of SilverName himself, glory, Jerome “Monsanto” Faucher, and Jaromír “Jarla” Vyskočil.
