Infinity Ward developer teases explanation of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare cross-play

Since the initial reveal of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, the community has been buzzing about one thing: cross-play. However, no one quite knows the nature of this feature or how it will work in-game. Although, an Infinity Ward developer has teased the slightest update on Twitter.

While we still don’t have a definite answer to some questions, (Who will get to play with whom? Will lobbies be mixed or just one platform?) we do now have a little more information on the subject.

Infinity Ward developer teases cross-play abilities

No developing studio will ever give away too much information about their game prerelease. For one, having things be a mystery builds more hype around the game before launch. Also, developers aren’t necessarily allowed to say certain things.

This is the case with Infinity Ward developer @candyslexia. Responding to a fan on Twitter, she gave us some insight into how cross-play will work in Modern Warfare. Although, her words are up to your interpretation.

Though she remains vague, we can take away a couple of things. By using the word “everybody” three times, it’s clear she’s referring to all three major platforms, PS4, Xbox One, and PC. In this context, it looks like she’s saying Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will allow all three systems to play with each other.

However, we are still uncertain about how exactly this will work. Will it be like Fortnite where any player can party-up with any system? Or will it be a toned-down version where PS4 can only play with PC and not Xbox One?

Either way, this developer is clearly saying the rumors of cross-play are true. Whether it will be full-on cross play or a lesser version remains to be seen.

What do you think the developer meant? Let us know in the comments below. Stay tuned to Daily Esports for all Call of Duty news and updates.
