While waiting for the finals match between OG and Team Liquid, we got to see the best Filipino cosplayers strut in their most creative hero costumes. Sisters Ashley and Alodia Gosiengfiao (two of the most prominent cosplayers in the country) came out as judges wearing Lina and Crystal Maiden outfits respectively. Tobiwan and Meepo Girls Diana (wearing Phantom Lancer) also judged the event.

With a huge prize money going to the winners of Manila Major Cosplay, contestants brought out their best-handcrafted suits. From real rotating claws to four-legged heroes, it was definitely a tough call for the judges. Female cosplayers also proved how incredibly resourceful and creative they could be. Contestant Strawberry made use of red lights to add flair into her Legion Commander armor. Anicka’s Vengeful Spirit was definitely on point. She even painted on her skin to achieve a full effect. Mikasa scored some points coming out as the four-legged Enchantress. Nikki Nikki, however, should get some props as well for staying in-character the whole time as the leg-less Medusa. Guy’s Earthshaker, Bu Bu’s Invoker, and Jerwind’s Pudge all looked insanely like they do in the game. Douketsu, who came out as the Stumpgrinder Timbersaw, also gave his armor a lot of thought. Although Packingtape’s Clockwerk did not win, he definitely made rounds on the internet as his take on this mechanical hero garnered a lot of praise.

Despite all competitors bringing their A-game, the judges ultimately had to decide on the winners. Jekk’s Doombringer, with life-like hooves and eerie horns, bagged 3rd place. Using real rotating claws and spinning saws, Mecha Kid’s Timbersaw cut his way into 2nd. Being the crowd favorite due to his spot-on facial features and mechanical laser beams, Fred’s Tinker won $5,000 (230,000 PHP) as first place on Manila Major Cosplay Contest.
