Nintendo Super Smash Bros Ultimate x ARMS Min Min x Masahiro Sakurai

Min Min from Nintendo’s ARMS will join Super Smash Bros. Ultimate as the first DLC fighter in the game’s second Fighters Pass. Masahiro Sakurai revealed the character and showed off her gameplay in a 35-minute presentation filmed from his own home.

Min Min’s design is unique compared to other Smash characters, mirroring the gameplay of her own game. She can launch long-range smash or tilt attacks using her extendable arms. She even has the unique ability to use her smash attacks in mid-air. In addition, players can alternate pressing the A and B buttons to switch between her left and right arms, respectively.

Min Min’s Down-B allows her to switch between three different types of ARMS: Ramram, Megawatt, and Dragon. This change only applies to her right hand, as she always has a Dragon equipped on her left. Her Up-B changes depending on where it is used. It is a high jump when used on the ground, or a grappling hook when used in the air.

Min Min’s characteristics make her well-suited for long-range play. As a result, she will likely struggle against opponents with quick rushdown styles. Players can get their hands on Min Min in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate when she releases on June 29.

Min Min debuts in Smash

Interestingly, Sakurai noted that he chose Min Min for Smash because ARMS producer Kosuke Yabuki requested her. Min Min will launch alongside a brand new stage, Spring Stadium. The stage includes jump pads that launch players high into the air, even allowing them to deal damage with that jump. In addition, Spring Stadium features large ceiling arches, which characters can bounce off of.

Five new Mii Fighter costumes will become available in Smash Ultimate on June 29, the same day as Min Min. These include Ninjara from ARMS, Heihachi from Tekken, and Callie and Marie from Splatoon. Most notably, Vault Boy from Fallout will join the battle as a Mii Gunner costume. He joins third-party characters like Sans from Undertale and the eponymous hero of Cuphead as surprising Mii costume additions.

Additionally, the presentation detailed some changes coming to the Spirit Board in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Players will now have the opportunity to rematch Spirits, allowing them to surpass their previous high scores. Finally, Sakurai showed off amiibo for Joker and Hero, which will launch this fall. Nintendo is currently developing additional amiibo for the remaining DLC fighters.
