With one week under Call of Duty: Modern Warfare‘s belt, there is one overall consensus regarding multiplayer. Since the game released, the footstep audio and lack of a dead silence perk are hindering gameplay significantly. Infinity Ward said they were looking into this matter, but something needs to be done sooner rather than later.
Anyone who has played Modern Warfare multiplayer knows how loud the footsteps are. Whether it is your own footsteps, a teammate’s, or enemy’s, the footstep audio is simply too loud. You are able to hear someone’s steps from a significant distance, causing players to not move around the maps as much.
Reduce footstep base sound, make ads/crouching lower your footsteps and increase DS duration or reduce charge time. Pica Rammaza are best maps because of bombs. Rammaza needs less doors. Petro Hackney need to be removed. Cave Gun Arklov can be fixed with better bomb placement IMO

In terms of casual play, the footstep audio is making many players sit in corners until they hear footsteps. This ensures they’re not heard and can earn an easy kill on an unsuspecting enemy who is walking around. Pair this with the questionable map design and it makes for slow, boring gameplay.
On the other side, in competitive, things are far worse. Traditionally in Call of Duty, there is a dead silence perk that nearly all competitive players put on their classes. This makes it so you can move around the map without being heard, as your life is more valuable than in casual play.
Call of Duty made a game without Dead Silence in 2019.

However, in Modern Warfare, dead silence is a field upgrade, only earnable after a certain amount of time and lasts 15 seconds. The lack of dead silence is making it so competitive play is a big waiting game to hear someone’s footsteps, taking the competition out of it.
Nearly the entire community is asking Infinity Ward for a dead silence perk to be implemented. This would make things much easier and solve a major problem with relative ease. Although, Infinity Ward has been stingy about this subject. They feel that dead silence is better suited as a field upgrade rather than a perk.
After further review, with how these maps are played dead silence needs to be completely silent.

So, if no dead silence, what other solutions are available? There seems to be only one viable option, which is to make general footsteps quieter. It’s unclear whether or not Infinity Ward will listen to the community on this matter. Though, they have been listening so far in Modern Warfare.
