New York Call of Duty to be called the New York Subliners

New York Subliners roster Call of Duty CDL

We have yet another branding announcement, this time coming from the Big Apple. Revealed across social media, New York Call of Duty has announced they will be named the New York Subliners for the 2020 Call of Duty League. This comes on the heels of the Dallas Empire branding announcement that happened on Oct. 19. We can expect other CDL teams to begin revealing their brand within the next week or two. With Modern Warfare releasing in the next few days, teams want to make sure they’re up and running as the hype builds up.

New York Subliners, the latest CDL brand

Although we now have confirmation, the Subliners was the expected name for New York. According to inside leaks, this has been the chosen brand for quite some time. Also in those leaks were the logo and color wave.

The Subliners are taking a similar approach to their Overwatch League counterparts, NYXL (New York Excelsior). In most of the official branding, the Subliners are going with “NYSL” instead of the full team name. Both the OWL and CDL teams are owned by Andbox, so this branding makes sense.

When the team name was first announced, most were wondering about the context behind a “Subliner.” Perhaps a Subliner relates to the New York City subway system, which thousands of people take every day.

Like the aforementioned Dallas Empire, NYSL will have merchandise available for purchase. Though there is no team shop as of yet, we can expect the apparel to be released sometime in the next week. Some of NYSL’s players can be seen already wearing the merchandise on Twitter.

In case you missed it, NYSL already announced their starting roster for the 2020 CDL along with a high-profile substitute. Here’s the personnel we know of for NYSL:

  • Tommy “ZooMaa” Paparatto
  • Dillon “Attach” Price
  • Trei “Zer0” Morris
  • Donny “Temp” Laroda
  • Lamar “Accuracy” Abedi
  • Doug “Censor” Martin (substitute)
  • JP Krez (analyst)
  • John “Revan” Boble (head coach)

All that’s left for New York is to announce two-to-three more substitute players and they should be all set for the 2020 CDL.
