Ninjas in Pyjamas hire new COO, Jonas Gundersen, HQ in Stockholm

Ninjas in Pyjamas has announced several updates and changes as it enters the new year. These include the hiring of a new Chief Operating Officer, Jonas Gundersen, and the establishment of a headquarters in Stockholm, Sweden.

Ninjas in Pyjamas into 2020

“I think Ninjas in Pyjamas is arguably one of the most iconic brands within gaming, globally. It has been for many years,” commented Gundersen in an interview with The Esports Observer.

As the Chief Operating Officer, Gundersen will handle esports operations and revenue for the Swedish esports organization. He previously held the role of Chief Commercial Officer for Danish esports organization North and also competed in Counter-Strike 1.6.

“We felt back then this was real, it just took a lot more years than we thought to develop. A more structured approach builds up the legacy of teams and a more sound revenue structure for all teams, including our competitors, so we can build rivalries and storylines that last for decades,” added Gundersen.

He goes on to describe his memories playing at the World Cyber Games, a well-known esports tournament brand at the time in the much smaller competitive gaming scene. Gundersen hopes to build out Ninjas in Pyjamas so that it will engage in long-term rivalries that traditional sports franchises often have.

Headquarters in Stockholm

In addition, the organization has opened up its newest company headquarters in Stockholm. The facility includes a boot camp for its players, offices for a working environment, and an in-house studio for content creation. The headquarters also has a fanbase engagement area for viewing parties and events. Further information about its facility will be revealed in the first quarter of 2020.

Ninjas in Pyjamas is most well known for its Counter-Strike: Global Offensive roster, consisting of Jonas “Lekr0” Olofsson, Fredrik “REZ” Sterner, Patrik “f0rest” Lindberg, Simon “twist” Eliasson, and Nicolas “Plopski” Gonzalez Zamora. The organization also has teams in titles like Dota 2, Rainbow Six: Siege, PUBG, and Paladins.
