Molf1g joins the London Spitfire

It seems the tank duo of the British Hurricane is now the tank duo of the Spitfire. The London Spitfire have signed Danish off-tank Mikkel “Molf1g” Djernes, formerly of the British Hurricane and Shus’ Money Crew EU. With all the signings announced today, the Spitfire are adding their contenders teams’ off-tank to match their support line and main tank. While they will have some new faces to integrate into the team, it seems the majority of the team will be former Hurricane players. This is no exception to Molf1g, who helped the Hurricane to their last dominant year in the competitive scene.

Molf1g’s path to the Spitfire

Here is another player with a long career in the Overwatch competitive scene. Ever since mid-2017, Molf1g has been playing for teams such as the Copenhagen Flames, Team Singularity and Novus Ordo Seclorum. However, after his time on the Danish World Cup team alongside teammates Kristian “Kellex” Keller and Mads “fischer” Jehg, he decided to join the British Hurricane.

Much like the article I did on his main tank teammate Hadi “Hadi” Bleinagel, the success of the Hurricane in 2020 was unprecedented. Only two tournament losses in a year, along with their first season having no losses at all. As mainly a D.Va and Sigma player, he was crucial in the meta shifts of 2020. The Spitfire saw Molf1g’s consistency and flexibility and promoted him.

London continuing the promotions

After this signing, all that leaves for Hurricane promotions is their DPS. One of them left before anything involving London was announced, so they might not join the Spitfire. The other is William “SparkR” Andersson, who I might be writing an article about an hour from now. Either way, with the Blasé signing, this slightly different Spitfire roster looks set in stone. With this roster, London looks like a team to fear for 2021. Maybe not for the championship, but as a dark horse for sure. If there’s one thing we learned from the original Vancouver Titans, you can’t underestimate team synergy. We’ll have to see if this version of the Spitfire will bring them closer to their second title.

Some other key favourites of mine are Transistor and Night in the Woods, but I spend stupid amounts of time playing Overwatch. I recently got my BA Honors in Film Studies, and want to continue to be part of film, gaming and writing.
