Origen BCN reveals departure from Orange Super League

Spanish esports organization Origen BCN has announced that it will be discontinuing the team’s participation in the SuperLiga Orange (SLO), also previously known as the División de Honor. This news comes after Danish esports organization Astralis Group and Spanish sports marketing company SevenMila parted ways.

Origen BCN split for 2020

“We want to thank SevenMila and all the Spanish fans for their support during the Orange Super League in 2019,” wrote Origen in a Twitter post. “Spain is a vital part of Origen and we have the ambition to return to the SLO as soon as possible. More news will come soon.”

With the split of the two companies by mutual agreement, Origen BCN has come to an end and SevenMila will retain the SLO spot. While Origen is not holding on to the SLO spot, it intends to return to the Spanish League of Legends competitive scene in the near future. The organization will continue into 2020 as BCN Squad. The first part of the name represents Barcelona since the new team will be based in Esplugues de Llobregat, Barcelona.

BCN Squad in SuperLiga Orange

The current roster consists of players Antonio “Rubi0o” Cruz Clavel, Tom “Rulfchen” Ruckh, Artur “Zwyroo” Trojan, Nicolás “Nixerino” Colocho, Adrián “Homi” Moldes López, and Adrian “Wardain” Noel Müry. The coaching staff in team manager Javier “Xavis” Dominguez, head coach Baltat “AoD” Alin-Ciprian, and coach Bjørn-Vegar “iHansen” Hansen will also stay with the team when the spring season starts on Jan. 23.

Origen BCN entered the SLO in January of 2019 after acquiring the slot that previously belonged to KIYF Esports Club. The team came on to the scene with a 2nd place finish in the 2019 Spring Split and Playoffs. Origen BCN repeated these results during the Summer Split and Playoffs with an unchanged roster. However, the Spanish organization did not qualify for the European Masters event through the Play-In stage after being eliminated by Rogue Esports Club.
