OverActive Media unveils MAD Lions CSGO roster

Global esports and entertainment organization OverActive Media has unveiled its new Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CSGO) roster for the recently rebranded MAD Lions organization. The Canada-based outfit also owns the Overwatch League franchise Toronto Defiant and Call of Duty League franchise Toronto Ultra.

MAD Lions enters CSGO

“Today we are thrilled to unveil our fourth major team, our MAD Lions will compete in CS:GO under our MAD Lions brand,” said Chris Overholt, President and CEO of OverActive Media, in a press release. “This continues our strategic and intentional effort to build out OAM’s global esports presence with the Spanish and Latin American markets at the core.”

The acquired CSGO team consists of players Rasmus “Sjuush” Beck, Frederik “acoR” Gyldstrand, Nicolai “HUNDEN” Rasmus Vissing Petersen, Fredrik “roeJ” Jørgensen, and Lucas “Bubzkji” Andersen. Former Team Liquid and OpTic Gaming coach Luis “Peacemaker” Tadeu will serve as the coach for the roster.

Former Tricked Esport lineup

The addition of the former Tricked Esport roster means the departure of its former Splyce roster. The Danish lineup has seen great success in 2019, with 1st place finishes at 2019’s Budapest V4 Future Sports Festival and UCC Summer Smash. The team also placed 2nd at DreamHack Open Winter, Season 2 of WePlay! Forge of Masters, and Good Game League. Coach Philippe “Winspai” Mølgaard Ouabaid did not make the move with the roster.

The MAD Lions roster is currently competing in DreamHack Open Sevilla, between Dec. 13 and 15. Eight teams are competing for a $100,000 prize pool, where MAD Lions currently sit in Group B with 2 wins and 0 losses. Other teams in their group include GODSENT, Illuminar Gaming, and Gambit Youngsters. The MAD Lions brand has also continued operating its existing team that participates in the League of Legends European Championship (LEC), which it owned before rebranding from Splyce.
