OWL 16 Matches

The Overwatch League (OWL) returns in a dramatic fashion this weekend with 16 matches. You probably won’t be awake or won’t have time to watch all of them, so here are the matchups and teams that should be the most exciting.

The Chinese teams

Every Chinese team will be playing its first match this weekend. The Guangzhou Charge starts the 16-match weekend off against the Shanghai Dragons at 1:00 a.m. PT, and the Chengdu Hunters face the Hangzhou Spark immediately after. On Sunday, Chengdu will play against Shanghai and Hangzhou will play against Guangzhou starting at the same time.

While there’s a solid chance you won’t be up for these games if you live in the Americas, be sure to check them out if you are. It’s been a long time since these teams played, and it should be a fun first look at how they might stack up in the OWL.

The Seoul Dynasty

The Seoul Dynasty were number two on our Power Ranking at the beginning of the year, and they make their 2020 OWL debut this weekend against the Dallas Fuel. The Dynasty signed Joon-yeong “Profit” Park, Jae-hee “Gesture” Hong, and Seung-tae “Bdosin” Choi during the offseason, and they’ve had plenty of time to work on chemistry.

Seoul gets to match up against Dallas tomorrow and the Los Angeles Gladiators on Sunday. Dallas is currently 0-2, with losses to the Los Angeles Valiant and the San Francisco Shock. The Gladiators looked better in their first match but still lost 3-2 to the Vancouver Titans. Seoul can kick off their season on the right foot with wins in these matches.

New York Excelsior vs. Atlanta Reign

The New York Excelsior are currently third place in the OWL standings with a 5-1 record. Atlanta has only played three games so far, but they look solid at 2-1. Both teams are at the top of our Power Ranking and will definitely be competitive this season.

Los Angeles Valiant vs. San Francisco Shock

The San Francisco Shock won it all in 2019, and they looked good again in their win against Dallas in week one. It will be exciting to see San Francisco play again – and interesting to see if they can live up to the hype.

There are 16 games this weekend, so OWL fans will have plenty to get excited about. Be sure to check out the above games, and if you can’t catch them live, watch the videos on the OWL YouTube channel.
