Rocket League LOR Games: Is Fairy Peak beatable?

Rocket League LOR Games: Is Fairy Peak beatable?

It’s honestly insane. After five rounds, Renault Vitality’s Victor “Fairy Peak” Locquet is yet to be defeated on League of Rocket’s latest 1v1 “tournament,” the LOR Games. No one managed. Not his own RV teammates, nor other RLCS players or even 1v1 mains. The Frenchman is so far above the rest that it’s become a storyline of its own: Who can dethrone him? Spoiler alert: apparently no one can.

What are the LOR Games?

League of Rockets is a well-known name in the Rocket League scene. Known for their incredible post-production quality, LOR has hosted several tournaments on YouTube and Twitch. Usually focusing on the 1v1 scene, LOR also did an unofficial World Cup in 2017. Now they’re back with their latest 1v1 format: a semi-weekly 1v1 best-of-7 series for $1,000. The winner is automatically qualified for the next series two weeks later for another chance to win $1,000.

Fairy Peak’s insane record

Fairy Peak was already considered the best 1v1 player in the world despite losing two LOR finals against his Vitality teammate Kyle “Scrub Killa” Robertson. Both of these finals were best-of-1, winner takes all, however. In a series, Scrub rarely, if ever, defeats his nemesis. The first week of the LOR Games proved this once more. The LOR Games started off with a bang between these two, and Fairy reminded us of his dominance. Since then, no one has managed to knock Fairy out and give the other players a chance for a quick $1,000.

Fairy has proven himself to be a jack of all trades. Because he is dominating the 1v1 scene, yes. But he is also consistently in the top three in the 2v2 ladder and is currently undefeated (5-0) with his team Renault Vitality in the European RLCS Season 7 League Play.

A storyline you’ll want to follow

Every other week, we fans eagerly await who will next challenge Fairy. Some of them play with our emotions by making it a close series or by winning the first few games. But Fairy always composes himself and regains the momentum. Had some of the series been shorter, Fairy may have already lost his undefeated position, but he will use time against you. His ability to fix his mistakes and capitalize on his opponents’ mistakes is second to none. Despite knowing the outcome of the past five games, you’ll want to see his dominance for yourself. And when he finally does lose, it will be the biggest headline until the RLCS  Season 7 World Championship.

Check out the latest episode between Fairy Peak and FC Barcelona‘s Yanis “Alpha54” Champenois below! The next game will be on Monday, May 6 at 4:30 EST on Twitch, or the next day on YouTube.
