Rocket League is (re-)introducing some of the special Limited Time Modes (LTM) released and removed over the years with Modes of May. Throughout the entirety of May, we’ll get to play some of the fan-favorite modes and see new combinations of existing modes. With one for each week, we’ll get to rank up our Rocket Pass 6 with a twist. The four modes to be introduced are Dropshot Rumble, Beach Ball, Boomer Ball, and Rocket League’s latest addition (and casualty), Heatseeker.
Modes of May makes four Limited Time Modes return to Rocket League
Dropshot Rumble is a completely new addition to Rocket League and kind of speaks for itself as it combines the two permanent ranked modes of Dropshot and Rumble. Beach Ball mode made its Rocket League debut last summer during the Radical Summer event. In this mode, the ball will behave like a beach ball would, meaning it has a curve and floats way more. It is also, of course, played on Salty Shores.
Boomer Ball is a popular mutator in Rocket League private matches, where the ball is set to super fast, super light, and super bouncy. Even professional players struggle with reads in this game mode, so chaos is sure to happen in those online LTM matches.
And finally, Heatseeker will already make its return to Rocket League. Introduced just last month, the mode quickly proved extremely popular, as many a fan and professional player called out Psyonix to make it an official ranked game mode. They didn’t quite get their wish, but at least they get to play it again. This mode sees the ball lock onto the opponents’ goal, increasing in speed with every touch. Be careful, though: Hitting the opponents’ backboard also sets it off towards your own goal. It turned out to be an extremely fun game mode with hilarious (and impressive) highlights from many Rocket League content creators.
