With January coming to a close, Psyonix has announced its roadmap for what’s in store for Rocket League in the coming spring. Don’t worry though, because while spring is still a few months away, we’re already getting some new goodies in February!

The end of Ranked Season 9

Sometime in February will mark the end of the current ranked season and the beginning of Season 10. The rewards, this time, are the ever-popular Wheel rewards. All of them are animated, with the higher ranks, of course, being more detailed.

This season, however, there’s a bonus for those who reached Grand Champion in the extra modes. Where regular Rocket League Grand Champions are given the ‘Season 9 Grand Champion’ title, the extra mode titles are as follows:

  • Rumble Grand Champion – ‘Season 9 – RNG Champ’
  • Dropshot Grand Champion – ‘Season 9 – Floor Destroyer’
  • Hoops Grand Champion – ‘Season 9 – Dunk Master’
  • Snow Day Grand Champion – ‘Season 9 – Blizzard Wizard’

Friends List (Rocket ID)

The long-awaited in-game friends system is finally making its appearance in Rocket League as well. Repeatedly delayed, Psyonix is finally ready to launch the system that will allow players to team up together across platforms. It seems pretty clear that the developers were waiting with this release until Sony opened up to cross-platform play, which it recently did.

New in-game event

While details have not been shared yet, a new Rocket League event is on the horizon. This is most likely the Chinese New Year. As usual, it will probably work the same as prior events, where players will be able to earn currency to unlock special holiday-themed items.

In March the current Rocket Pass season will end. Rocket Pass 3 has already been confirmed to follow it, but Psyonix also teased a new Challenge System. More details are to follow closer to its release.

With Rocket League having launched in China, several interesting images of the client were found by the players, including a new arena. With many immediate requests for allowing the West to play in the arena as well, Psyonix announced all territories will be able to play in once it’s fully complete.
