In both groups, what was supposed to happen happened: MVP Black and X-Team dominated Group A while mYinsanity and Please Buff Arthas took the two spots in Group B.
The first Group Stage of the Summer Global Championship featured two groups of four teams: Group A was composed of MVP Black, X-Team, Renovatio and Negative Synergy. For Group B, the four qualified teams were mYinsanity, Please Buff Arthas, Gale Force eSports and Big Gods. The top 2 teams of both groups will take part in the Second Group Stage later this week.
MVP Black swept Renovatio, a team from the Philippines, and X-Team took down the Australians Negative Synergy. The winners, as well as the losers of Summer Global Championship, would face each other the very next day, to determine the seeding for each team. X-Team lost against MVP Black who then faced Renovatio and also sent Negative Synergy home. It was a fast series as X-Team dominated both games, taking the second spot for the next Summer Global Championship group stage that is taking place from June 17th to June 19th.
mYinsanity wreaked havoc through Please Buff Arthas, a Taiwanese team, and won the series in two quick games. Gale Force eSports (GFE) had a difficult time defeating the Brazilian team, Big Gods. They lost their first game in less than 20 minutes, then managed to figure out the Brazilians’ strategy, thus winning both of the next two games in 20+ minute’s matches. The outcome of the winners match of Summer Global Championship was not surprising either: mYinsanity took less than 50 minutes to defeat GFE in both games. Gale Force eSports would now have to beat the Taiwanese if they wanted to get their hands on a top 8 spot. However, they didn’t make it, GFE was able to win the first game, but they lost Game 2 and Game 3. It was the only surprise of the first three days of Summer Global Championship.
