Super Smash Bros. Ultimate World Championship commentary lineup set

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate World Championship commentary lineup set | Splatoon 2 World Championship 2019

Nintendo Versus, a Nintendo-run Twitter account dedicated to esports, has announced the commentators for the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate World Championship. This year, Nintendo will host championship events for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and Splatoon 2 ahead of E3 2019. The event will also feature an invitational for Super Mario Maker 2, which releases worldwide on June 28.

Jordan Kent will be commentating all three of Nintendo’s competitive events at E3 2019. Kent is a former NFL wide receiver for the Seattle Seahawks who is now an esports caster. He frequently commentates tournaments hosted by Nintendo.

Phil “EE” Visu, Vish “Vish” Rajkumar, and Kelsy “SuperGirlKels” Medeiros will join Jordan Kent to commentate the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate World Championship. EE is a prominent Ultimate commentator, known for his humorous casting alongside Terrence “TKbreezy” Kershaw. Together, EE and TKbreezy are known as “The Black Plague.”

Though Vish is more commonly known for his Melee commentary, he has commentated major Smash Ultimate events before. Vish notably did Ultimate commentary at Smash Ultimate Summit and Get On My Level 2019.

SuperGirlKels is primarily a competitor rather than a commentator. She was notably ranked the No. 100 Smash 4 player of all time on the Panda Global Rankings 100. SuperGirlKels also recently became a Nintendo ambassador.

Splatoon personalities Ashley Esqueda, Charles “Nine” Whitehead, and Mellana will also cast the Splatoon 2 World Championship 2019. In addition, Vish and Nine will join Jordan Kent to commentate the Super Mario Maker 2 Invitational 2019.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate World Championship

While Nintendo has not officially announced the rule set for its E3 Smash Ultimate event, fans may expect similar rules to those of the North America Open. This would mean items on and some non-legal stages available. Nintendo encourages a slightly more casual approach to its competitions in order to make Smash Bros. appealing to a wider audience. In addition, Nintendo has confirmed that the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate World Championship will be a 3v3 event. In contrast, most Smash tournaments exclusively run 1v1 and 2v2 events.

The winners of the North America Open for both Smash Ultimate and Splatoon 2 will attend and compete in the E3 championships. It is currently unconfirmed who their opponents will be. Nintendo has also yet to confirm who will be competing in the Mario Maker invitational.

The Super Smash Bros. Ultimate World Championship will take place in Los Angeles on June 8. The Splatoon 2 World Championship 2019 and Super Mario Maker 2 Invitational 2019 will happen the same day. E3 2019 will run June 11 – 13.
