Team BDS RLCS X Fall Major

Team BDS are the first European RLCS Season X Major Champions. With a 4-2 win in the grand final, they had no trouble with Renault Vitality and claimed the top points on their way to the World Championships. The major concludes the Fall Split of  RLCS season X for Europe, while North America will finish off their Split tomorrow.

Team BDS dominates RLCS out of nowhere

If you’d have asked anyone who the favorites were for EU RLCS X  at the start of this season, most would have said Renault Vitality. Team BDS was talented, but they had only just promoted. However, it didn’t take long for Team BDS to assert their dominance. Winning regional one and two, the newcomers were quickly considered favorites.

After an earlier exit in the third European regional (which they lost to eventual winners Renault Vitality), Team BDS were left with a warning going into the Fall Major: they were not unbeatable. Galaxy Racer was proof of that in the semi-final as it required a 0-0 five-minute-long Game 7 overtime to determine the winner between them and Team BDS. The new format for the RLCS proves to be an excellent change indeed, as these two teams would never even have met in the previous format, nor would Galaxy Racer even have been in the top league.

Points-wise, Team BDS resides at lonely heights on the European RLCS X leaderboards with 1604 points, a good 350 more than second-place finishers Renault Vitality. These points determine who goes to the World Championships next year (top 6 of the region), and after just one out of three splits, Team BDS looks like favorites for that too. They have secured 94% of all the points they could have gotten with a 31-2 series win/loss rate.

RLCS X Fall Split Major Points

Tomorrow, it’s North America’s turn to crown its first RLCS Major champion. No matter who wins it though, they’ll have their work cut out for them when all regions come together at Worlds. The Winter Split should begin soon after the Fall Split concludes for all regions, but exact dates have not yet been announced.
