Team Secret, known for its reputation in the Dota 2 scene, has acquired Lowkey Esports’ League of Legends roster. The acquisition places Team Secret in the Vietnam Championship Series (VCS) Spring Split.

Secret’s new squad

The organization tweeted out the news on Thursday after teasing on social media that “another secret” was about to be revealed. The announcement includes a compilation video of the newly acquired roster in action on the League battlefield.

The official Facebook page for the VCS also confirmed the switch. A rough translation states that necessary documents had been received and Secret was now officially in Lowkey’s VCS slot.

Lowkey Esports formed in mid-2019 after rebranding from Friends Forever Gaming, keeping most of its roster through the transition. During Lowkey’s time in the scene, the team placed third in the VCS 2019 Summer Season and, subsequently, second in the Summer Playoffs. The roster also made it to Worlds 2019 but placed 17th to 20th after DAMWON Gaming defeated them in the Knockout Stage.

The acquisition by Secret will see the players remain in their previous positions on Lowkey. This includes Mai “Nixwater” Nhật Tân staying on as the team’s head coach.

Joining the ranks

The newest roster under the Team Secret banner puts the organization at eight teams in total. Secret also has teams competing in games such as Apex Legends, Fortnite, CSGO, and, most notably, Dota 2. Most recently, Team Secret’s Dota squad took first place at DreamLeague Season 13. Leading up to that, the team also placed fourth at The International 2019, arguably the biggest Dota event of the year.

With a strong reputation to uphold, Secret clearly sees potential in its new VCS team. Referring to the roster as “Worlds-calibre” in its announcement tweet, it’ll be interesting to see how the team handles itself.
