OWL

After a short hiatus following the May Melee tournaments, the Overwatch League is back in action this weekend. Here are the best games to watch over the weekend.

The New York Excelsior vs. the Seoul Dynasty

The New York Excelsior made a big pick up during the recent hiatus, signing Hyojong “Haksal” Kim to their roster. The former 2019 Rookie of the Year will have a lot to prove with New York after the Vancouver Titans remade their roster due to internal struggles.

This weekend, the Excelsior will face off against the Seoul Dynasty. The Dynasty came in second place in the May Melee after a heartbreaking loss to the Shanghai Dragons in the Asia bracket. These two teams both have a legitimate shot at being title contenders in the 2020 OWL season, so this should be a fun match to watch.

The Florida Mayhem vs. the Dallas Fuel

The Florida Mayhem pulled a shocking upset over the first-place Philadelphia Fusion in the May Melee. They will now look to stay hot as we move into the second half of the season. Their first chance to prove themselves comes as they face an inconsistent Dallas Fuel team.

Dallas has shown flashes of brilliance throughout the year but hasn’t managed to win consistently. They beat the Houston Outlaws 3-1 in the May Melee and took a game off of the San Francisco Shock. However, they were unable to win the series. The Shock would go on to win the tournament and beat the Mayhem. Winning against Florida would be a big boost for the Fuel’s confidence.

The Vancouver Titans vs. The Toronto Defiant

The Vancouver Titans haven’t looked so good after completely remaking their team. They’ve had a few weeks off now to practice and work on team chemistry, so it will be interesting to see if they can pick up a win off of one of the weaker teams in the OWL.

The Toronto Defiant came into the 2020 OWL season with some hot offseason acquisitions in Lane “Surefour” Roberts and Brady “Agilities” Girardi. However, they’ve been nothing but disappointing so far. If they hope to turn things around, they need to start here against the new Vancouver roster.
