Triumph has added yet another player to finalize its roster for the 2020 Overwatch Contenders season. The North American esports organization joined Season 1 of Overwatch’s Open Division in January of 2019, and has kept a few players from its former lineup.
You can’t succeed alone.
Together We WILL Triumph.

Triumph in Overwatch Contenders
The newly announced Contenders roster consists of DPS players Sam “Samito” Dawahare, Isaiah “Hydron” Rodriguez, Alex “BigALL” Marconescu; off tank Ilya “Txao” Makarov; tank Otto “Milkyman” Sarén; flex support Danny “awkward” Novak; and support Kobe “HelloImHalo” Hamand.
Both Samito and awkward joined as part of earlier roster iterations, with the two competing together on team ‘Down to Clown’ in Open Division’s Breakable Barriers tournament.
The coaching staff will be Andrey “FrAgOn” Katz as Head Coach, along with Jonathan “Jon” Tran and Sam “Natdoekje” Wilks as Assistant Coaches. FrAgOn joined from Bye Week in January of 2019 and Natdoekje began his career on Triumph. Only Jon has joined recently with the newest lineup.
Former Open Division performance
The roster replaces the former roster of Alex “Chopt” Rossell and Minjun “Htp” Kim. Others have transferred to new teams, like Lewis “Aether” Parker to Maryville Esports, LynnnnnX to Clockwork Vendetta, along with John “iCy” Kazura and Jørgen “Decod” Myrlund to Third Impact.
The previous lineup achieved decent results in Season 2 of Overwatch Contenders for the North America West region after tying with Second Wind for 3 – 4th place. However, it failed to advance toward The Gauntlet Tiebreaker.
Fortunately, Triumph Gaming received new investment during August of 2019 from NBA All-Star Kevin Garnett, which should allow the organization to gain an edge on other competitors.
Triumph will compete in the new Overwatch Contenders seeding tournament on January 11. What do you think about the new roster? Let us know about your opinion, and keep up with Daily Esports for all of your Overwatch coverage.
