Twitch Rivals Streamer Bowl will pair NFL players and Twitch streamers in Fortnite charity tournament

Twitch, the NFL Players Association, and Epic Games have partnered to host the Twitch Rivals Streamer Bowl. This esports event will see 16 Twitch streamers pair up with NFL players and compete in a Fortnite tournament for $500,000 in charity prizes.

The initial event will have NFL players show off their skills alongside Twitch streamers in the ‘Showcase’ stage on Dec 10 and 17, along with Jan 7 and 14. Then, Twitch streamers will battle it out in ‘The Draft Showdown’ on Jan 16 for the top seed in picking their own NFL duo partner for the final event. Finally, the Steamer Bowl on Jan 30 will see 16 duo teams compete for the $500,000 prize toward a charity of their choice, in Miami during the week of Super Bowl LIV.

Between Dec 4 and Jan 15, the NFL Players Association will host a Fortnite tournament to find the best Fortnite players among all active NFL players. Four of the winners will be invited to join the Twitch Rivals Streamer Bowl. Other players on the NFL side include Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster and Oakland Raiders safety Johnathan Jauquez Abram. The full list of NFL players and participating streamers will be revealed as the weeks go on during the Twitch Rivals ‘Showcase’ stage.

Twitch’s partnership with the NFL started in 2018 with the introduction of Football streams on the platform. Thursday Night Football made a return to Twitch in September, with multiple content creators like Tim “TimTheTatman” Betar, Nick “NICKMERCS” Kolcheff, Nate “Nate Hill” Hill, and Jose “AngryJoeShow” Antonio Vargas co-streaming the games. Twitch was also announced as the founding partner of the Oakland Raiders’ newly constructed Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, which will feature a Twitch lounge.

Twitch Rivals is a series of competitive events featuring Twitch streamers, with over 100 event days in 2019 and millions of dollars in prize money up for the taking. Other upcoming events being hosted include the Fortnite Community Charity Showdown for both North American and European communities.
