Vanguard signs former FaZe Clan Fortnite player Jaomock

North American esports organization Vanguard has announced the acquisition of former FaZe Clan Fortnite player Brendan “Jaomock” O’Brien. The 21-year-old joined FaZe Clan in March of 2018 alongside Dennis “Cloak” Lepore, Thomas “72hrs” Mulligan, and Thang “SpaceLyon” Phan. 72hrs was later swapped out for Turner “Tfue” Ellis Tenney.

Jaomock joins Vanguard

“Hey guys, I’d like to announce that I have recently left FaZe Clan. My last year and a half with them was great and I’m happy I got to be apart of my dream org. With that being said Im a F/A now and will be looking for a new home,” Jaomock wrote in a Twitter post last October.

Jaomock moved from FaZe Clan into free agency a few months ago, with many in the community vouching for him. While playing for FaZe Clan, he achieved a 2nd place finish in Week 5 of the North America Fall Skirmish Series alongside Jason “Tennp0” Wang. In 2018, he also finished in 5 – 6th at BoomTV’s Code Red tournament, as well as 9th at WSOE 3 with the same duo partner.

Since parting ways with the organization, Jaomock has seen improvements in his performance. Some recent notable achievements include 2nd place in Heat 2 of the Fortnite Champion Series for the North American West region, along with 8th in Week 7 of Asia’s Contender Solo Cash Cup.

Former FaZe Clan roster

While this is great news for the talented Fortnite player, it wasn’t unexpected. Most of the former group of four players have since left FaZe Clan, with the departure of cloakzy and Tfue attracting more attention. Jaomock will now compete as Vanguard’s fifth player alongside Jonathan “yung calculator” Weber, Vinh “Phung” Phung, iKerry, and KEZ.

Vanguard is not as well known of a name in the Fortnite scene, with their roster acquisition of the Calculator squad only being revealed in late November. Nevertheless, Jaomock brings his social media following over – something much needed by smaller organizations.
