It is a fine day to jam some wind! Windjammers, the arcade classic from Data East, is now available on Nintendo Switch for $15. A side tournament mainstay, Windjammers saw a quasi-revival when it was released on PS4 and PS Vita. This Switch version is a port of the PS4/Vita version. While $15 is a bit steep for what is essentially a ROM, for fans of the game, having it on the go may be worth it. Check out the ’90s-bathed Switch launch trailer below:

Windjammers 2 is slated to release sometime in 2019, but in the meantime, if you are craving some disc-tossing tournament action, the Windjammers Flying Power League is making a return for Season II. Last year the first season offered up $10,000 in prizes, as well as a flight and hotel for the top three players to head to EVO 2018 to battle it out for the championship. Season II is just around the corner so check out this link to find out more. To see some high level Windjamming yourself, check out this year’s aforementioned finals from EVO 2018 below.

Kevin Carignan
Kevin has been a fan of fighting games since he first walked up to a Marvel vs. Capcom cabinet at the tender age of 8 at the local arcade. (Kids ask your parents what an "arcade" is) He may not be very good, but that doesn't stop him from enjoying them.
